Morskie Oko (Sea Eye) is the largest mountain lake in the Polish Tatras. Its depth is 53 metres deep and covers an area of over 35 hectares. It is revered by Poles in the same way as Lake Baikal is revered by Russians.

Surrounding the lake is a stunningly beautiful national park with mountainous landscapes and mountain streams, with asphalt paths and many trails of varying difficulty. For some of the trails you won't need any specialised training, for others you will need equipment and gear. At the entrance to the park is a map of the area.

The park is equipped for your convenience. Toilets have been installed. A rest stop with two cafes 4 kilometres before the lake. Here is a wonderful view - snow-capped peaks mountains, and below - turquoise, bright lake, and local traders offering cold beer with raspberry syrup.

The part of the journey through the national park to Sea Eye Lake can be travelled by horse-drawn carriage, driven by coachmen dressed in the national Gurul clothes.

Many holidaymakers sunbathe on the shores of this famous and popular lake in the Tatras. There are also secluded coves with plenty of fish and blueberry bushes.

There is a cafeteria with a bar on the shore. From here you can go up to the upper lake Cerni Stavu, and even higher - to Mount Rysi, the highest peak of the Tatras at 2499 m.
