The Santa Jushta lift (also called the Du Carmou lift) connects the lower and upper town vertically. It was built in the early twentieth century by the French architect Raoul Messnier du Ponsard. French architect Raoul Messnier du Ponsard, a pupil of the famous architect Eiffel.
Filigree patterns decorate the cast iron pillars of the lift. Two cabins move up and down, each with a capacity for 25 people. At the top of the at the top of the lift, there is a café with a magnificent view of Lisbon and its suburbs.
