To the east of Foros there is one of the most ancient passes of the Main Ridge of the Crimean Mountains - Chertova Stairs (Devil's Staircase). Here was the only way from the coast to the interior of the Crimean peninsula. From afar, the pass really resembles a giant staircase with huge steps, on which the path winds. The "staircase" has 40 steep turns, enclosed in a rocky gorge. In 1820, climbing the Devil's Staircase on the way from Gurzuf to Bakhchisarai was made by Alexander Pushkin.
The way up, although steep, but without any surprises, dangers and dizzying climbs. In recent years, the Devil's Staircase has been favoured by mountain bikers.
