The building of the church of St. Elijah (or St. Elijah's Church) was designed by the famous architect H.K. Vasiliev, whose projects built a number of churches in Alupka, Perekop, Gurzuf, Yanchokrak. The choice of location for the construction of a new church in the centre of the most crowded area of the village was predetermined and built in 1894, the bell tower, to which it was necessary to "tie" the volume of the temple, uniting the bell tower and the church identical pattern.

The temple was conceived by the architect as an imposing building. The architectural image of the church was based on the motifs of Russian-Byzantine architecture.

During the years of the God's struggle, the church was built in the form of a church.

In the years of God's abolition "on the petition of the workers of Saki and surrounding villages" Svyatoilinsky temple under the pretext that the building gave cracks and requires major repairs, which the church had no funds, decided to convert to a club. The temple suffered significant losses of architectural, structural and decorative elements of the interior.

During the years of the Great Patriotic War, the temple was returned to the Church, in it were resumed divine services, which have not ceased since then until now. After 1990, the lost dome and 4 decorative chapels of the temple, its carved iconostasis, paintings and interior decoration were gradually restored.
