St John the Forerunner Monastery is located almost at the exit from Staraya Ladoga, but its huge bright blue heads are perfectly visible even from Nikolsky Monastery. One church survived from the whole monastery - a huge cathedral of the Nativity of John the Forerunner, built in 1695. The church is five-domed, cubic in shape, with a seven-sided altar apse. Decorative details of the building - scapulars, shaped platbands - are made of brick. Next to the cathedral is a pointed bell tower, also built at the end of the 17th century.
