The Garden Route is 200 kilometres long and stretches along South Africa's most beautiful coastline, through the small towns of Whitsunday, Stilbaai and Albertine, George, Sedgefield, through the resort towns of Naisna and Plettenberg Bay, through the unspoilt verdant forests of Tsitsikamma Park - a true magical land of giant trees, ferns and wild birds. The ridge tops of rocky mountains lying along the coastline, small azure beaches and coves, brightly coloured wildflowers - all are a delight to the eye. Here you can go scuba diving, mountaineering, fishing or just relax.

Between Heidelberg and the Storms River, the Garden Route runs almost parallel to the coastline through lakes, mountains, green forests, amber rivers and golden beaches. Here you can relax on the beach, swim, hike forest trails, go boating, or retreat to enjoy fishing.

The delightful town of George, known as the "Gateway to Garden Route", has been called a city of contrasts. It adorns a coastal plateau of fertile land with lush vegetation at the foot of the Uteniqua mountain range. One can visit Tsitsikamma National Park, located on the Indian Ocean and explore its attractions. Its verdant forests are a haven for dozens of bird species.

One of the most geologically interesting places in South Africa is the amazing Karru region, with high mountains and steep gorges, with the Kango Caves, which are carved out of limestone by nature itself. The Kango Caves are one of the top ten most visited South African attractions. The township of Oudshoorn itself is the heart of the ostrich industry. It is home to the largest ostrich farm in the world. Particularly interesting is the exhibition of the history of the ostrich pen from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It is possible to visit the ostrich farms, see how ostriches are raised and ride them.

These places inspire writers and artists whose creations give the Garden Route a 'fashionable flavour'. A visit here is a must and prestigious for many international travellers. The Garden Route offers a wide range of opportunities for an unforgettable holiday on the South African peninsula with spectacular scenery and a guaranteed good climate.
