On a cliff above the city's bay, 113 metres above sea level, stands a Gothic castle. It was built in the 13-14th centuries as the summer residence of King Jaime II.
Three castle towers are built into the wall, and the fourth stands alone and is connected to the wall by a covered passage. A gallery with elegant arches runs around the perimeter of the central courtyard.
