The old Jewish quarter of Santa Cruz is the most picturesque part of the city. It's a a maze of charming narrow streets with whitewashed houses and tiny plazas. squares. It was once a Jewish ghetto. It's home to apartment blocks, hotels, restaurants, souvenir shops.

The Hospital de los Venables, a former priests' orphanage, was built in the 17th century. century. Famous for its magnificent baroque church with richly painted walls.

The famous painter Murillo, who lived all his life in Seville, was buried in the the church that once stood in Santa Cruz Square. There now stands a huge ornate iron cross.

In the Plaza del Triumfo stands a Baroque column in honour of the city's salvation in the 1755 earthquake. the city in the 1755 earthquake. It is adorned with a statue of the Virgin Mary.

The building of the Archives of India (16th century) used to house a commodity exchange. Nowadays. it houses documents related to the Spanish colonisation of the Americas.
