The Doll Museum in Basel is rightly considered to be the largest museum of this subject in the whole of Europe. The area of the museum's premises is more than a thousand square metres. The building itself was built back in 1867 and is itself considered one of the local landmarks. It consists of four floors with large halls. The collections of the museum are so vast that it is simply impossible to go round it all at once. Therefore, the museum administration has compiled electronic catalogues, which include information about each exhibit with a detailed explanation of how to quickly find it in the countless number of toys. It is noteworthy that there are not only all kinds of dolls, but also plush toys, dolls' houses and various toy utensils related to the life of dolls' "life", here you can see such things that could play your grandparents.

The museum's collection includes toys created from the early 19th century to the present day. These include the first mechanical dolls, bears living in gingerbread houses, and even entire series of dolls ever produced by famous manufacturers. All have been brought from all over the world or donated to the museum by former owners and collectors. Some have been customised especially for the museum and are renowned for their exclusivity. Guests of the museum can order the production of analogues of certain dolls directly in the museum. Moreover, no visitor leaves the museum without a small commemorative gift.
