In Lausanne, on the shores of Lake Geneva, on a terrace above the promenade, which can be reached by escalator behind the fountain, is the Olympic Museum building. It is surrounded by the picturesque Olympic Park, with alleys of shapely trees, green lawns and intricate sculptures depicting groups of athletes.

The Olympic Museum was opened in 1993. It was founded by Juan Antonio Samaranch, chairman of the International Olympic Committee. The museum's collection consists of 1,500 exhibits that tell the story of the Olympic Movement and everything related to it. The museum is interactive: in the exhibition halls, in addition to static objects, there are information screens, where information about the history of the Olympics, the world's most famous athletes, sports equipment, etc. is presented in a simple and understandable form.

Part of the exposition of the Olympic Museum is dedicated to the founders of the Olympic Games - the ancient Greeks. As is well known, after a long interval, the Olympics were resumed in 1894, and Pierre de Coubertin is to be thanked for this, about whose life and work some local exhibits tell us. From the collection in the following rooms, guests learn about the development of different sports through the evolution of specialised equipment. In the glass display cases there are skates from the beginning of the century that could have been worn by our great-grandmothers, heavy clubs and tennis rackets, balls, etc. The history of the Paralympic Games is also told here.

Finally, in the next rooms there is a collection of Olympic medals, of course only on screens, and a selection of items that belonged to famous athletes.
