On the outskirts of Meiringen there is an amazing theme park called Mugestutz and Haslitzwerg, which is dedicated to the small mountain people - the gnomes. The park will appeal not only to little ones, but also to their parents. The two routes developed by the park's staff take you through some very scenic areas. One of the routes is called "Adventure on the Dwarf Trail". Kids who go on it can find gnome treasures in a cave, experience the Eagle Swing and learn a lot about the lifestyle of little gnomes in red caps.
The second route, "Home in Bannwald", takes you past dwarf houses that hardly fit an adult, but make children feel good, over a suspension bridge, past a swamp to a cable car. Every structure along the way can be entered. At the gnome houses, children will be given tea and delicious biscuits. It is baked by the wives and daughters of the gnomes. The fathers of the gnome families themselves spend all day long in the tunnels, extracting precious stones. Only sometimes they gather in their capital city of Haslitzverg. A dwarf named Mageshtutz is the leader. The amusement park is named after him.
To walk along the paths of the park, you should take care of sturdy and comfortable shoes. If snow falls in the mountains, the fun trails in the gnome park are closed.
The stories about Mageshtutz and his friends were invented and drawn by Susanne Schmid-Germann. Her books about the adventures of the gnomes are very popular with Swiss children.
The information office of the Mugestutz and Haslitzwerg Park offers both beautifully published books about the gnomes and souvenirs with images of the main characters from Schmid-Germann's stories.
