The Rhine Falls, the largest and most powerful waterfall in Europe, impresses not so much with its height (23 metres) as with the sheer volume of falling water. This magnificent natural wonder is especially marvellous during late spring, when the melting snow adds to its volume.
On the hill above the waterfall is a medieval castle, which houses a restaurant, shops and a youth hostel.
