American Jim Thompson organised a silk production in Thailand, which had fallen into decline after World War II. that had fallen into disrepair after World War II. In 1959, he brought back from the provinces old Thai houses of the XVIII-XX centuries. and installed them in random order on the territory of his estate in Bangkok. on the grounds of his Bangkok estate. It now houses a collection of antiquities and artefacts spanning a time period of fourteen centuries.
Thompson himself disappeared without a trace in 1967 in Malaysia's Cameron Highlands. Among the theories of his disappearance included a fall from a cliff, a heart attack and CIA intervention. CIA interference.
