Wat Saket is also called the Temple of the Golden Mountain - a golden chedi stands atop a of a man-made hill. A circular staircase with statues and tombstones leads to a to a small shrine. From here you can see a magnificent panorama of Bangkok.

This is one of the oldest temple complexes in the city. It was built back in the time of King Rama I, and the first artificial mountain was poured under Rama III. Subsequently, under King Rama V, a 76 metre high hill was built. The temple houses sacred relics, brought by King Rama V from India.
