Skilful local craftsmen still build traditional Turkish "tihandils", as well as the wide gulets. Tihandils are the oldest type of vessel on the shores of the of the Aegean Sea. Tihandilas usually have a triangular sail, a sharp bow and a stern.
Gulets, on the other hand, have always been considered manoeuvrable and manned by a small number of people. They were used in both the military and civilian fleets. This lightweight, two-masted rounded sailboat is 18-20 metres long. In Bodrum, these types of boats are still in use in Bodrum today. They are used for excursions, boat trips and in October they participate in the annual Bodrum Cup regatta.
All these water vehicles are docked in one of the three beautiful marinas of Bodrum. The capacity of the marina is 450 mooring spaces on the water and 100 berths for yachts on land. It can even accommodate yachts up to 65 metres in length. The marina has good facilities for technical service facilities, including an in-house repair yard, which allows yachts to be repaired on site.
