There is an abandoned village 8 kilometres from Fethiye. There has been since the 18th century. But in 1923, the authorities evicted all the Greeks and settled here. Muslims who had arrived from Macedonia. However, the Muslims soon left the village and moved closer to the sea. No one has lived here since.

The village has 3,500 houses and three churches, including the Basilica of Panayas Pyrgiotis Basilica (late 19th century) with preserved mosaics and marble decorations. The Greeks, leaving the village, exhumed the remains of their loved ones, but took with them only their skulls. The remaining bones of the deceased inhabitants were deposited in one of the buildings of the churchyard, where they can still be seen today.
