One of the most romantic mountains is Mount Olympos, which in Turkey is better known as Tahtali. Mount Tahtali is the calling card of Kemer. It is a part of the Western Taurus mountain system. It is the dominant peak of Olympos National Park.
The park has a territory covering several tens of thousands of hectares. The nature of the of the national park, separated from the mainland of Turkey by a powerful mountain range. The mountain is shrouded in many legends. One of them says that the hero Bellelle, who was exiled to Lycia, the hero Bellerophontes killed Chimera, a monster with the head of a lion, the body of a goat and the tail of a serpent with his arrow and threw it inside Mount Olympos, and from that time a flame breaks out there 365 days a year. Of course, geologists have their own explanations for this, but it can't affect the historical fact that because this ancient mountain is mentioned by Homer in The Iliad.
Tahtali Mountain is famous for its special funicular lift, which the Turks call "teleferik", which stretches from the seashore to the top of Tahtala. It's an impressive climb up the mountain with the teleferik turns dreams into reality and brings to life the slogan "From Sea to Sky". The funicular takes tourists almost to the top of the mountain, to a height of two thousand three hundred and sixty-five metres above sea level, is Antalya's main modern attraction. From the observation deck in good weather you can admire the panorama of the coastline, opening up for many kilometres from Finike to Side. The aerial tramway was designed and manufactured in Switzerland, which is a testament to its high level of reliability. Also It can be noted that Mount Olympos Tahtali is famous for being the highest peak in the world, which is located so close to the sea coast, and the Tahtali cable car is the first cable car in Europe in terms of length and the second in the world.
At the lower station, which is 726 metres above sea level, is where passengers board. This site can be reached either by hire car or by bus. It is located fifty kilometres from Antalya. Tourists here can visit a mini-zoo or have a snack in a local cafe.
The upper station is a three-storey solid structure, in which along with the waiting and arrival lounges, houses two more restaurants (a terrace restaurant and a panoramic restaurant), souvenir shops and the observation deck itself, located on the roof of the building.
