In the historical part of Marmaris, the so-called Old Town, is the Caravanserai of Sultan Hafsa. The Caravanserai is a roadside inn where travellers or soldiers could rest and recuperate before further action. The Sultan Hafsa Caravanserai was built in 1545. The upper part of it is decorated with original painted arches and it is located on a narrow street leading to the city centre. The Caravanserai has seven small rooms and one large one.

Nowadays there is little reminder of the past bloody events involving Sultan Suleiman I. On the contrary, the Caravanserai symbolises the hospitality of Marmaris. In addition, near the Caravanserai various souvenirs made by local people are sold, which will be a wonderful reminder of your visit to the city of the Sea Pearl. Next to the souvenir shops there are cosy cafeterias. In them you can try national cuisine, smoke hookah and enjoy the beautiful view. Several times a week colourful shows with the participation of local people are held on the territory of the Caravanserai.
