At 14 kilometres from Kemer are the ruins of the ancient city of Fazelis. It was founded in the 6th century B.C. and quickly became a rich harbour town: its inhabitants were successful in the citizenship trade - for 100 drachmas anyone from Asia Minor could become a citizen of Phaselis. a citizen of Phaselis.
