Sharjah Desert Park is a unique wildlife museum park. It is located 28 kilometres from the city. The total area of this wildlife sanctuary is one square kilometre. The Desert Park was established in 1995. The main purpose of the park is to protect the endangered species of animals living in this halo.

There are several educational centres within the park: a botanical museum, a natural history museum, a children's farm, the Arabia Wildlife Centre and a breeding centre. By visiting the natural history museum, one can learn many interesting facts about the natural history of the region. The museum recreates the ecosystems of deserts and seas, there are prehistoric fossils and many other unique exhibits. There are a total of five thematic expositions here, namely: "Life on Earth", "Life in the Desert", "Life in the Sea", "Journey through Sharjah" and "Journey through Time".

The Arabia Wildlife Centre is a zoo that houses selected members of the region's fauna, including the Arabian leopard, sand cat, hyenas, spider camel, baboons and venomous snakes. In total, the centre is home to about 100 species of animals. Younger visitors will have a great time visiting the Children's Farm, where they can get up close and personal with the local animals.

Today, Sharjah Desert Park is a favourite destination for tourists and locals alike. All the necessary conditions for a wonderful holiday have been created on its territory. There are designated picnic areas, several cosy cafeterias and shops where you can buy souvenirs to remember you by.
