The Dhlodhlo National Archaeological Zone is located 75 km southwest of Gweru in close proximity to the Bulawayo-Gweru road. The architecture of the structures is reminiscent of Khami. Dhlodhlo was the capital of the Rozvi state and is mentioned in Portuguese chronicles of the 17th century. During excavations at the site, archaeologists found a number of artefacts of Portuguese origin, among them two ancient cannonballs.
