Matobo National Park is one of the largest holiday parks in Zimbabwe, located 32km from Bulawayo and consists of fantastic rock formations, caves with rock art, picturesque dams where you can fish for bass and bream, a park with 20 species of animals and a comfortable 100-site campsite overlooking Maleme Dam, which also has camping and RV sites. The park is rich in a variety of bird species, including a large population of black eagles. Whole troops of baboons and monkeys can be found here, as well as other animals such as sabre-horned antelope, Beisa antelope, white rhino, gnu and zebra. Malindijimu Hill is legendary as a place where good spirits live, the local tribes call it 'the place where the whole world can be seen' and the ashes of Cecil John Rhodes are buried here.
