Lake Chelan

Lake Chelan (/ʃəˈlæn/ shə-LAN) is a narrow, 50 mi (81 km) long lake in Chelan County, north-central Washington state, U. It is an overdeepened lake and resembles a fjord, with an average width of 1 mi (2 km). Near its upper end, the lake surface lies more than 6,600 ft (2,000 m) below peaks less than 3 mi (4 km) away. Before 1927, Lake Chelan was the largest natural lake in the state, in terms of both surface area and water volume. Upon the completion of Lake Chelan Dam in 1927, the elevation of the lake was increased by 21 ft (6 m) to its present maximum-capacity elevation of 1,100 ft (340 m).

Ruby Theater

The Ruby Theater is a small movie theater located in Chelan, Washington. Built in 1914, it was named after Ruby Potter, the step-daughter of its manager, Frank Potter. The original owners were Herbert R. Kingman and Morrison M. Kingman. Original seating capacity was 225 on the main level and 125 in the balcony. The theater was equipped as a cinema and as a vaudeville house. With the exception of 1972-1974, the Ruby has been showing movies for over ninety years, and is one of the oldest movie theaters in Washington.

Lake Chelan Dam officially known as the Lake Chelan Hydroelectric Project is located approximately 32 miles (51 km) north of the city of Wenatchee in Chelan County. The dam is located at the lower or southeasterly end of 50 miles (81 kilometres) long Lake Chelan, and is within the limits of the city of Chelan. The powerhouse is located near the community of Chelan Falls. The reservoir has 677,400 acre-feet (835,600,000 m3) of usable water storage. The 10-year average generation for the Project is 365,000 megawatt hours.
