China (Chinese: 中国), formally recognized as the People's Republic of China (PRC), stands as an East Asian country. Encompassing an area equivalent to five time zones and sharing borders with fourteen countries by land, China boasts a vast expanse of nearly 9.6 million square kilometers (3,700,000 sq mi), ranking as the world's third-largest country in terms of total land area.
