Angel Bridge was built in the 19th century. It is spanned over Elk Street, which runs along the valley between the slopes of Domberg Hill. The bridge bears the inscription "Otium reficit vires" ("Rest restores vigour"), which inclines you to rest and regain your strength in the ancient park on the hill. The Inglisild Bridge was built on the site of a temporary bridge between 1814 and 1816.
The architect of the project was I. Krause. In 1913 there was a major renovation of the Anglesild Bridge. At the same time, a bas-relief of the first rector of the University of Tartu, created by sculptor Vetter-Rosenthal, was placed on the side facing the park.
