Town Hall Square is rightly considered the heart of Tallinn. This square, which predates the Town Hall, has long been a place of public festivities, fairs and shopping. It has long been a place where people gathered and all sorts of events were held. The square was even used to execute the town's criminals.

The wide square in front of the town hall, surrounded by old colourful houses, is the centre of street life in the old days as well as today. Today, fairs and concerts are also held here. In summer there are cafes around the perimeter of the square, and in winter, for several centuries now, a sprawling Christmas tree has been erected. This tradition has survived since 1441. The festive tree stands here for a long time - a month, or even a month and a half, around it there is a Christmas fair, where you can buy souvenirs and gifts, and just enjoy the festive atmosphere and get infected with a good mood.

In summer, Town Hall Square becomes the centre of Tallinn's Old Town Days. This festival, which has a tradition of almost 30 years, is one of the most interesting cultural events in the Baltics. During the festival, it is as if the city is returning to the Middle Ages. Locals and visitors dress up in medieval costumes. Such ancient traditions as knights' tournaments and festive parades are resumed at this time. The streets and courtyards of the Old Town are filled with music and dancing. There are also fairs, all kinds of exhibitions, various theatre performances. Craft workshops are open, where masterclasses on this or that type of craft are held.
