The Palaeontological Museum houses the bones of local dinosaurs and the eggs of Vurunatrana, a giant Epiornis "house bird" that was almost the size of an elephant and lived on the island until very recently. But the most amazing thing is that there are not and never have been any predatory animals or poisonous snakes on the island at all! This is what has allowed most of the species to survive in such completeness.
