The Armenian Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary was built in 1363 by the architect Doring. The architecture of the church combined different styles: Old Russian, Romanesque-Gothic and traditional Armenian. Simultaneously with The bell tower was built at the same time with the church, but during the siege of Lviv by the Turks it burned down, but later it was rebuilt. was burnt down, but was later rebuilt.

The oldest part of the cathedral is the eastern part, erected in 1368-1370. In 1437 1437, the arcade was completed, in 1630 - the middle part. From 1631 to 1671 The Armenian cathedral was expanded and rebuilt. In 1723 the temple was changed externally: stone and brick externally: stone and brick masonry walls were covered with plaster, and in 1731 the vestry was added on the northern side. the sacristy was added on the northern side. A chapel was built near the church.

In 1908-1920, the western side of the church was restored and completed to the design of Francis Monchinsky. restoration and completion of the western facade of the church, the tower was decorated with mosaics, and the walls were painted by artist Jan Henry Rochinsky. the walls were painted by the artist Jan Heinrich Rosen. At the end of the 14th and beginning of the 15th centuries, the interior of the church was decorated with frescoes executed by Jan Heinrich Rosen. The monastery courtyard at the northern wall of the cathedral from the opposite side bounds the building of the monastery of Armenian Benedictines, built in 1682. The eastern courtyard is linked to the monastery courtyard by a baroque gate dating from 1671. This courtyard is called the Christopher courtyard, because in its centre stands the 18th-century memorial column of St. Christopher of the 18th century.
