The Assumption Cathedral was built in 1771-1777 in the Russian Baroque style. In 1821-1844, according to the project of architect E. Vasiliev, a new bell tower of the cathedral was built to commemorate the victory of Russian troops over Napoleon's army. Crowned with a golden dome, the bell tower attracts attention by simplicity and grandeur, strictness of forms. It is the tallest building in Kharkov - its height is 89,5 metres. On the bell tower there are chimes.

Nowadays the organ is installed in the hall of the cathedral and now concerts of famous Kharkiv performers and tours of masters of organ and chamber music are held in the temple. Thanks to good acoustics, the organ hall is a popular concert hall among performers of classical genre and participants of folklore ensembles.

The organ was installed in the cathedral hall.
